Tyler-Justin Anthony Sharpe was born the 26th of August, 2002, in the Queens
area in New York City to Jamaican immigrants. He was born in Queens in
Springfield Gardens. However, Sharpe eventually moved to Cedarhurst in Long
Island. Sharpe was a kid with aspirations to be a basketball player, but Sharpe
switched on music when he turned 12. He attended Lawrence High School. Tecca
was nine years old at the time, was rapping along with the other students with
his Xbox to record. One of their diss tracks was uploaded to SoundCloud many
years ago but has since been removed. At first, he didn't plan to embark on an aspiring
career in music, but instead wanted to be an NBA superstar. He started to
consider music more seriously when he dropped his interest in basketball when
he was in middle school. His first track to gain some traction,
"Tectri", was composed by him and his friend, Lil Gummybear, and was
released in early 2017. Other tracks by Tecca include "Callin" and
"Tectri". Tecca's career took off one year later, with the smash
single "Ransom", which was posted to Cole Bennett's Lyrical Lemonade
YouTube channel on May 22 in 2019. It reached the top spot at 4 on the
Billboard Hot 100 charts and was played over 900,000,000 times on Spotify and
more than 300 million times on YouTube.
