Angelina Jolie, original name Angelina
Jolie Voight, (born June 4, 1975, Los Angeles, California, U.S.), American
actor and director renowned for her sexy appeal and edginess as well as her
work for the cause of helping others. Jolie, the daughter and actor Jon Voight,
was raised in New York. After her growing up, she relocated to Los Angeles,
where she played the role of an inpatient with mental illness in Girl,
interrupted (1999). She was a student at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film
Institute for two years. She after that, she enrolled at Beverly Hills High
School. Then she went on to study acting at New York University. She also
performed in theatre productions. In later years, she performed as a model and
in music videos. Jolie met Jonny Lee Miller (1996 divorced 1999). Like many of
the subsequent films, the film could not find an audience. In 1997, however
Jolie garnered much attention portraying the wife of Alabama's segregationist
governor the television film George Wallace, and she was later awarded an award
called the Golden Globe Award for her portrayal. The following year she played
an actress struggling with addiction to drugs in the HBO movie Gia, a
performance that brought her numerous awards and awards, including an Golden
Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award. In 1999 she appeared in the comedy
Pushing Tin with John Cusack and Billy Bob Thornton, and the following year she
married Thornton (divorced 2003).After her Oscar-winning role in Girl,
Interrupted, Jolie appeared in a string of action movies. In Gone in Sixty
Seconds ((2000)), Jolie played Nicole Cage's lover. She later adopted a British
accent, learned street fighting and kickboxing to play the title roles in Lara
Croft Tomb Raider (2003) and Lara Croft Tomb Raider : The Cradle of Life
(2004). In 2004 she portrayed the mother of Alexander the Great in Oliver
Stone's Alexander as well as starred alongside Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law in
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, a science-fiction thriller set in 1930s
New York City. Both films were unsuccessful at the box office, however Jolie
was successful in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005). She was a housewife,
pretending to play an assassin. While making the film, she met Brad Pitt who
became her partner.
